Our Story

Imperial Spirits is the brainchild of Tom Kinder and Ed Masi. We set off in 2017 to fulfill our passion to create truly premium beverage brands exclusively for the Private/White Label industry. We are located in Brawley, California in the heart of Imperial Valley’s Agricultural region.

We are dedicated to providing true craft private label alcoholic beverages. All ingredients are sourced locally, with the exception of our proprietary blend of yeast strains and juniper berries (hand picked from Tom’s family ranch in Pine Valley, CA).

Our vodka and gin brands are created and distilled from the juice of fermented watermelons.  Many brands are purchased in bulk from industrial size distillers and put through processes like filtering or flavor infusion. This gives the perception that the name on the bottle is who actually made the product.  In the name of sustainability we use only the sweetest watermelons at the peak of ripeness that may not make the journey to your grocer’s shelf.

Managing Members

Tom Kinder is a massive history buff. He can be found innovating and scheming at the shop. Tom holds a BA from San Diego State University in History with an Economics minor. He has spent the last two decades working as a buyer for major national and international restaurant and supermarket chains. He mostly managed the fresh and processed produce categories, but it was his position as purchasing manager of Produce and Beverage where he learned about distilling and the nuances of the liquor industry. 

Ed Masi is the drummer and music producer. In his spare time he writes children’s bedtime books and tinkers with recording gear. He holds a BS in Business Management/Finance and a MA in Human Services Counseling. His experience as a business owner and general manager, coupled with his service in the United States Navy and Air Force have prepared him to adapt to the complexities of the industry. Plus, he loves people and appreciates excellent spirits.
